According to Football Insider (h/t Leicestershire Live), Leicester City are trying to steal a march on their rivals in the race to sign teenage prospect Bruno Davidson.
Celtic were in pole position to win the race for the 15-year-old starlet, with the Hoops readying a three-year contract but the Foxes have now taken him on trial (Football Insider h/t Leicestershire Live).
Davidson, who has been on trial at the King Power Stadium for a week now, scored for the club’s U16 side in a 3-1 victory over West Ham at the weekend.
The 15-year-old shot to prominence with Hutchinson Vale, an Edinburgh-based non-league outfit in his homeland. His talent and potential have prompted several top clubs, including the likes of West Ham, Wolves, Southampton, Celtic and Leicester to circle around like sharks for his signature (h/t Leicestershire Live).
Bruno Davidson isn’t the only burgeoning young talent to be linked with a move to Leicester City in recent times, with the Foxes also keeping tabs on Nigerian teenager Akinkumni Amoo, who made eyeballs turn with his scintillating displays at the FIFA U17 World Cup in Brazil (All Nigeria Soccer h/t Leicestershire Live).
The pathway to the senior ranks from the development side has been open at the King Power Stadium in recent years, with the likes of Hamza Choudhury, Harvey Barnes and Ben Chilwell making their presence felt in the Premier League.
Notwithstanding the fact that Davidson is still in the rudimentary stages of his formative years at 15, the Foxes would have a gem on their hands if he goes on to fulfil his promise in the years to come.
With so many clubs hot on the trail of the 15-year-old, Leicester must convince the youngster to join them.
Furthermore, it won’t be a surprise if Davidson favours a move to Leicester, given their excellent track record of promoting young talent in recent years.
Having handed professional debuts to the likes of Raheem Sterling and Kieran Tierney over the course of his managerial spells at Liverpool and Celtic, Rodgers has shown a great deal of proficiency when it comes to handling youngsters.
With that in mind, Leicester City’s interest in the 15-year-old certainly strikes the right chords.
