Newcastle signing this £20m Championship star would make them a dangerous unit in the final third

Why Jarrod Bowen would be a brilliant signing for Newcastle United

According to a report from Daily Mail, Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has admitted that he is eyeing attacking reinforcements in January.

The Magpies have endured a poor start to the 2019/20 Premier League campaign and are languishing near the relegation zone. Their biggest problem continues to be the lack of goals and despite signing Joelinton from Hoffenheim, things have remained the same.

Joelinton has often looked lost upfront, lacking service and any kind of help from his fellow forwards. He is clearly struggling but the burly Brazilian cannot be blamed entirely for Newcastle’s dearth of goals.

The likes of Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron have failed to find the back of the net. In particular, Almiron is yet to fully adapt to the demands of English football. Thus, it’s a no-brainer for Bruce and co to invest in a couple of attacking players when the transfer window reopens.

Back in September, Express had claimed that Newcastle were keeping tabs on Hull City forward Jarrod Bowen, whose current deal will expire at the end of the season. Hull City value the 22-year-old at £20million.

Jarrod Bowen, 22, finished the previous campaign as Hull’s leading scorer with 22 goals to his name. He has bagged eight goals and two assists already this term. With the left-footed attacker impressing in England’s second-tier, Newcastle must go all out to sign him in January.

With Joelinton yet to prove himself in the Premier League, adding Bowen to the mix would ease the Brazilian’s woes.

Although Bowen is yet to prove himself at the highest level, the Leominster-born talent has a proven track record in the Championship and is young enough to continue improving.

Verdict

Thus, Newcastle cannot afford to let a talent like Bowen slip away. They must do everything possible to bring the 22-year-old to Tyneside in January, as he is capable of adding a cutting edge to Bruce’s attack.
