Why It Is A Win-win For Both Real Madrid and Chelsea If They Complete The Swap Deal Involving Asensio and Hazard

Every transfer window brings with it some sensational stories and rumours and one that refuses to die down this time, is a potential swap deal involving Marco Asensio and Eden Hazard.

That’s right. As per a report from Spanish publication Diario Gol, Real Madrid are continuing to harbour an interest in Chelsea’s star player Hazard but if that deal goes through, Asensio is very likely to move the other way and join Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.

Although Real pulled off a remarkable win against Girona recently, their campaign has been rather underwhelming so far. Currently gracing the 3rd spot in the La Liga standings, Zinedine Zidane’s front trio of Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema (fondly known as BBC) has not yielded positive results.

Barring Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema have been rather shambolic this season. Despite that, Asensio has failed to nail down a regular spot for himself in the starting XI.

In recent times, The Metro had reported that Bale might leave Santiago Bernabeu this summer but regardless of whether that happens, one thing is for certain. If Hazard were to move to Real Madrid, Asensio would see a further reduction in his time on the field and at 22 years of age, that is exactly the opposite of what he needs.

Eden Hazard

Hence, to get regular game time and work on his development, Asensio could be a great choice for Chelsea and he can fill the void left behind by Hazard. He has plenty of untapped potential and given his skills, there is no doubt that he can work wonders at boosting the Blues’ chances of making a serious title challenge next season. He is quite young as well, meaning he should be able to adjust to life at Stamford Bridge fairly easily.

To be very honest, this swap deal seems like one of those rare occasions where both parties can end up as winners. Asensio is a brilliant young player and can go very far in a Chelsea jersey while also acting as a long-term replacement for Hazard.

Meanwhile, Hazard is incredibly versatile and he can help fuel Real build a team filled with proven quality players ahead of next season. Hence, this is a deal that can equally benefit both teams but if we are to pick a winner, I think it should be Chelsea.

Losing Hazard will be tough but with a promising young star like Asensio set to take charge, the club might not miss the Belgian international all that much as they’d arguably be signing the next big thing in Spain.
