Why Is “Now” The Perfect Time For Liverpool To Swoop In And Sign This Southampton Star

Sadio Mane

Liverpool have been linked with Sadio Mane throughout the summer. Jurgen Klopp seems imminent on bringing the Senegalese to Anfield as he looks to rebuild Liverpool. Recent reports suggest that Southampton are after VfB Stuttgart’s left winger Filip Kostic. If the deal goes through, it would mean Sadio Mane’s game time at Southampton will become a bit less. This might tempt Mane to leave Southampton and if Liverpool make the right offer, he will not hesitate joining the Reds.

Sadio Mane has been a man in form. He was the main reason behind Southampton’s excellent performances in the Premier League. Liverpool had a chance of signing him in 2012 but Brendan Rodgers seemingly under-estimated him. And Mane has since then constantly proved Rodgers wrong. Now Jurgen Klopp has a chance to improve on Rodgers’ mistake by signing Mane, but it will cost him quite a lot. Southampton have rated Mane at 40 million pounds. Jurgen Klopp is reportedly increasing his efforts to bring the Senegal international to Liverpool but the Saints are determined not to let their star man go. Even if they do let him go, they will make sure that they receive a bumper amount for their best player.

Mane is a perfect attacking midfielder. He has a knack of scoring goals and also creates goal scoring chances. He made 37 appearances for Southampton last season, starting 30 times and as a substitute 7 times. In these 37 appearances, he managed 11 goals and 6 assists. He plays more as a central attacking midfielder but is also very good on the right flank. He wreaks havoc in opposition defenses with his pace. Very few defenders can match his pace and track his runs which give him an edge over defenders. Mane’s style of play will suit Klopp’s tactics and he will adjust well with Coutinho and Firmino.

Southampton are after Filip Kostic and it is a very good chance for Liverpool to sign Mane. Adding Mane will strengthen Liverpool’s squad. Now it is up-to Klopp whether Liverpool should shell out 40 million pounds on Mane but the way things are panning out, Klopp will go after Mane.
