Hull City signing this in-form 24-year-old would be a terrific move by Nigel Adkins – opinion

Hull City opinion: Adkins wants Jonson Clarke-Harris – good move?

The Daily Mail has reported that Hull City are the latest side to join the race for in-form Bristol Rovers striker Jonson Clarke-Harris. The 24-year-old has found a rather deep and rich vein of form for new side Bristol Rovers, having only arrived in January.

However, that hasn’t affected the striker, with him scoring in all but three games for the club. This includes a rather impressive hattrick against Blackpool, which has seen Jonson Clarke-Harris flourish since his move.

He hasn’t had the best career until the move to Bristol City, struggling to make an impact. So far, the 24-year-old has been released by Rotherham and has spent a large majority of his career on loan.

Furthermore, he has failed to find a consistent run of games for any of the club’s he spent on loan with, playing an average of 17 games a season.

That shows why Jonson Clarke-Harris has struggled but despite all that, the 24-year-old has come out on top. This season, he has shown exactly what he can do with consistent playing time, which is what Hull City need.

While Jarrod Bowen has been incredible this season, scoring 18 goals in 37 appearances in the Championship alone, few others have done well.

Chris Martin, Will Keane and Nouha Dicko have played 38 games between them, scoring three goals. That has affected the Tigers and they sit 12th in the league table, all but out of the race for a promotion spot this season.

They have an outside chance of making it but that looks highly unlikely given that they’ve only managed two wins in their last five. That run includes two losses and a draw, which has seen them drop to where they are at the moment.

Things need to change in the near future for Nigel Adkins and the Hull City manager needs reinforcements next season especially if the Tigers are to find their way back into the Premier League in the near future.

They have a relatively decent team at their disposal but have struggled to put together a consistent string of results.

Conclusion

Hull City need someone like Jonson Clarke-Harris at their disposal. The 24-year-old has heart and is tenacious enough to make it in the Championship. Given his recent form, it’s a move that the club will regret if they do not make it.
