According to Daily Mail, West Ham United’s board do not plan to sack Manuel Pellegrini despite the Hammers’ poor form heading into the international break.
It was September the last time West Ham’s supporters had a victory to celebrate. Since then, they have lost five and drawn two. The Hammers are now just two places above the relegation zone. They are on a seven-game winless run at the moment, with Pellegrini’s side losing 3-0 to Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.
Sean Dyche’s side were the better team in every department and were deserving of the three points. Life is not going to get any easier for West Ham after the international break as they face Tottenham, Chelsea, Wolves and Arsenal.
The report adds that some of Pellegrini’s decisions in the recent few weeks have raised eyebrows in the boardroom. One of those is the Chilean tactician’s inability to get the best out of Felipe Anderson this season.
Felipe Anderson, 26, joined the Hammers from Lazio in the summer of 2018 for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £41.5million. (h/t BBC) He enjoyed an excellent debut season at the London Stadium, contributing with 9 goals and 4 assists in 36 league appearances.
The Brazilian made a decent start to the season but he’s struggled lately. He is without a goal all season and hasn’t picked up an assist since the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, with his form completely tailing off since the defeat to Crystal Palace last month. Anderson is way off the mark and has been one of the worst performers in West Ham’s dry spell.
The 26-year-old seems to have lost his confidence. Anderson is generally an exciting player with exceptional technical qualities and skill on the ball. He is very direct and never shies away from taking on his marker to beat him.
However, things aren’t clicking for him at the moment and his poor form has been one of the reasons why the Hammers are struggling in the final third.
Truth be told, it’s high time for Anderson to step up his game and help the Irons turn around their fortunes. He cost West Ham a lot of money and the Brazilian should start delivering the goods consistently after the international break.
