Why Fabian Ruiz could prove to be top signing by Manchester United
According to calcionapoli24 (h/t Daily Star), Manchester United are interested in Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz.
The 23-year-old midfielder has been impressive for the Italian outfit since arriving from Real Betis in the summer of 2018. With 5 goals and 3 assists from 27 games, Ruiz was a vital player for Napoli, helping them to a second-place finish in the Serie A table last season.
After an impressive debut, Ruiz seems to have continued his rich vein of form, making 16 appearances this season and contributing to his side with a goal and 2 assists so far.
Within a short span of time, Ruiz has grown into one of the side’s top players. Meanwhile, the Red Devils are in need of some midfield reinforcements with the future of their star man Paul Pogba still remaining an uncertainty.
Moreover, Pogba has been injured most of the time this season and has rarely featured, making just 7 league appearances so far.
He made a return recently after his long injury lay off but has now been sidelined once again after it was found out that he would require an operation on his foot.
With the star midfielder now out for at least a month and young academy graduate Scott McTominay too sitting out due to knee injury, United are left with not so many options in the middle.
Though Pogba will be out for just a month, McTominay could lose up to 2 months, making things even worse for the Solskjaer-led outfit. This means United will have to rely on their remaining central midfielders – Fred and Nemanja Matic.
Fred has improved drastically, however, he is still not up to the mark. Matic, on the other hand, has slowed down with time and looks way past his prime, thus adding to United’s pile of miseries.
The 2-0 away defeat to Arsenal was a proof of this when a stronger and more organised Gunners midfield outperformed them to walk away with the honours.

Being 5th in the league right now, United still have a chance of making it to the Champions League spot, with fourth-placed Chelsea just 5 points clear of them.
However, any more slip-ups could drastically affect their hopes of pushing into the top-four.
A typically left-footed player, Ruiz is comfortable playing anywhere in the midfield, from an attacking to a defensive role, depending upon the team’s requirement.
His versatility could be an invaluable asset for a Red Devils side that barely has such players in its ranks. Technically gifted, Ruiz has all the skills required for a modern-day midfielder.

With Manchester United’s midfield woes clearly out in the open, it is no big deal that they are interested in the talented Ruiz, who has proven his credentials in a short span of time. Thus, signing a top player like him would help them regain their spot among England’s best once again.
