5 goals, 2 assists – Everton signing this in-form 21-year-old would turn them into an exciting unit

Why Everton should go all out to sign Bordeaux’s Josh Maja

According to French reporter Ignazio Genuardi (h/t The Daily Star), Everton sent scouts to watch Bordeaux striker Josh Maja in action against Strasbourg.

Josh Maja, 21, joined Bordeaux from Sunderland in January last year after impressing in League One. He has scored five goals and registered two assists – including a hat-trick against Nimes, in 10 appearances this season.

Everton, meanwhile, have climbed to 11th in the table after a couple of positive results of late. Although they were beaten 2-1 by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, the Toffees have shown signs of improvement under new manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping to make an impression of his own in the January transfer window. One of the key areas the Everton boss should address is the striker department.

The Merseysiders have got Cenk Tosun, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and Moise Kean on the books Tosun has been linked with an exit. Tosun, 28, who joined from Besiktas in January 2018, has failed to live up to the lofty expectations of the fans and Everton are keen to offload him this month. (h/t The Daily Star)

Kean, 19, is yet to score in any competition for the Toffees, despite arriving with a big reputation. He netted 7 times for Juventus last season and already has two goals at senior level for Italy, but the teenager has failed to replicate those performances at Goodison Park.

Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin have been excellent for the Royal Blues this term, threatening defences with their pace, dribbling skills and movement. However, improvements can certainly be done in that position and Josh Maja would be a good fit at Everton.

Maja is playing for Bordeaux like a man in form and would bring a different option to the likes of Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin.

The 21-year-old alongside Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin and Alex Iwobi would turn Everton into one of the most exciting and lethal attacking teams in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old has performed well for Bordeaux and has the attributes to make an immediate impact in the Premier League.

The prospect of working under a highly successful manager like Carlo Ancelotti should appeal to a youngster with immense potential. All in all, Maja could prove to be a shrewd piece of business for Everton.
