Why Danny Loader would be a good futuristic signing for Man United
A report from Sky Sports suggests that Manchester United are weighing up a move for Reading FC forward Danny Loader in the summer.
The 20-year-old’s contract is set to expire this summer and United are trying to bring him to the top-flight on a free transfer (h/t Sky Sports).
Born in Reading, Loader joined the club’s youth system in 2012 and made his first-team debut at the age of 16 under former manager and United legend Jaap Stam.
After a string of brilliant performances, Loader was set to join Wolves on a deadline-day move last summer (h/t Birmingham Mail) but eventually, the deal did not happen.
He is still a bright prospect for the future, however. During his time at Reading, he made 29 appearances for the Royals and has scored one goal.
This season, he has played 4 games so far in the Championship. He has been a key member in Mark Bowen’s squad, despite making few appearances.
Loader is building a reputation outside the Premier League as well and has already caught the eye of several top-flight clubs, according to Dail Mail.
After selling Romelu Lukaku and loaning out Alexis Sanchez to Inter Milan, United’s Marcus Rashford has been leading the attack and has played all the games so far this season. Loader’s addition to the squad would bolster their attack and also add depth.
Loader, who mainly plays as a centre-forward, can suitably fit on the flanks if needed.
According to whoscored, the 20-year-old has an average of 0.5 shots, 0.3 key passes and a pass success rate of 82.9% per game.
At Old Trafford, he may not immediately get chances with the first-team. That said, Loader can steadily develop himself by training regularly under Solskjaer’s watch.
Since breaking into the Royals’ first team, Loader has been an exciting talent and moving to United would be a huge step in his career thus far.
