Why Daniel Levy must give green signal to Pochettino to sign this German speedster ahead of rivals

Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur are ready to prepare a bid for Borussia Dortmund superstar Marco Reus this summer, as per reports from The Guardian

The German International has recently returned from a long injury layoff, scoring a goal in his last two Bundesliga matches against Koln and Gladbach respectively. His current contract with the club expires at the end of next season and despite Dortmund’s initial wish to keep hold of their star player, Reus might choose to leave the Signal Iduna Park this summer.

Reports also suggest Tottenham could face stiff competition from Liverpool for the signature of the Borussia Dortmund star, but will a move for Marco Reus prove to be beneficial for the Spurs next season?

A great talent hampered by injuries

Despite his ever-growing injury issues, Marco Reus has remained one of the best attackers in German football for the past five years so. Ever since his Bundesliga breakthrough at Gladbach, the 28-year-old has been one of the finest players in the top flight, scoring 94 goals in 225 appearances.

His record with Borussia Dortmund is even more impressive, with the player scoring 94 goals and providing 61 assists in 194 matches all competitions. He has also been a pivotal part of the success Dortmund have had in recent years, including their DFB Cup triumph in 2017.

Marco Reus might be expensive, but he is worth it.

Following his cruciate ligament injury in the DFB Cup final, Marco Reus has recently returned from his long injury layoff, which has proved to be a massive boost for the Black and Yellows.

Since his return from injury, the German international has notched up two goals in five matches, including a stunning winner against his former team, Borussia Monchengladbach.

Known for his technique and style of play in the final third, Marco Reus is someone who has the ability to turn the game around its head at any given time.

His sheer pace coupled with unmatched tenacity often helps his team in keeping the opposition defence busy throughout the course of the game. Reus’ tendency to run in behind the defence or to shift into the central zones give the midfielders an extra option in the final third.

Furthermore, the 28-year-old also has the quality to lead his team by example, which was pretty evident in recent matches.

Therefore, the German international will no doubt be an interesting addition for Tottenham Hotspur, who will want to boost their attacking department with the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli constantly being linked with a move elsewhere.

The offensive line consisting of Christian Eriksen, Marco Reus, Dele Alli and Harry Kane could certainly be a winning formula for any coach in the world and therefore, it would be interesting to see as to what measures do the Spurs take, in order to prise away Dortmund’s attacking asset this summer.
