Why Conte’s Tactical Intelligence And Winning Formula Is What It Takes To Achieve The Unthinkable

Why Chelsea Can Miraculously Defend Their Premier League Title

Chelsea put in an exemplary performance last season to win the Premier League title but they have not consistently been at their best this time. Defending a title is never easy and the Blues started off on the wrong foot as they lost to Burnley on the opening day of the season. Since then, things have been relatively average for the club, barring sprouts of brilliance here and there.

Their biggest problem is that they have struggled with consistency but of late, their performances have been quite encouraging. They are currently on a three-game unbeaten streak and face Swansea City next – which should give them a chance to secure 3 more points. As of now, Chelsea are gracing the 3rd spot in the points table and have 26 points in their kitty – which is not bad by any means. A win against Swansea could potentially push them on par with Manchester United and from then on, it will be a race to catch up with high-fliers Manchester City. But can they do it this time again?

Granted, Chelsea faced some initial hiccups but they have rallied themselves quite well to come back stronger. Their upcoming run of Premier League fixtures does seem quite fortunate, given the situation. The Blues recently secured a point from their game against Liverpool, which ended in a 1-1 draw,  and they have relatively relaxed fixtures coming up. They play Swansea and Newcastle at home followed by away fixtures against West Ham and Huddersfield Town. The away fixtures might prove to be a bit tough but based on Chelsea’s current form, they should expect to get away with victories.

After the game against Huddersfield, Chelsea play Southampton, Everton, Brighton and Stoke at home. A whopping 24 points and it seems like the Blues have enough power to win them. It will not be easy by any means but the Blues did win 13 top-flight games in a row last season and perhaps Antonio Conte can work his magic once more.

Current title-challengers Manchester City, on the other hand, have a couple of tricky fixtures here and there. They have a game against Manchester United and then an encounter against Tottenham Hotspur – giving Chelsea a solid chance to capitalise on the situation.

Moreover, they have a good squad. Conte managed to bring in several note-worthy players over the summer and it is about time they all come together as one unit to deliver strong displays and win the 24 points. Provided his key players remain free of injuries, the Blues might just be able to defend their title miraculously. Add Conte’s tactical intelligence to that and you have a winning formula that can truly change the course of how things have been progressing in the Premier League so far.
