Man Utd signing this 27-year-old star for £42m from PL rivals would ease Solskjaer’s creative woes

Why Christian Eriksen would be a brilliant signing for Man United

According to Spanish outlet El Desmarque (h/t The Metro), Tottenham star Christian Eriksen has held talks with Manchester United over a potential transfer in January.

The 27-year-old midfielder’s current contract with Spurs expires at the end of the season, which means he could leave on a free transfer in the summer. But Tottenham could use the January transfer window as their final chance to recoup some money for the Dane.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must strengthen his squad in January and the report adds that United have held talks with Eriksen’s representatives and will offer £42million to Spurs for their midfield ace. (h/t The Metro)

There are many things lacking for Solskjaer’s squad that could see them miss out on their top-four target this season. If they are to achieve their aims and objectives, however, the United manager has to invest heavily again in the January transfer market.

The Norwegian must add some quality to his midfield, which was weakened after the departures of Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera earlier this year. Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba’s injury problems have further dampened the squad, leaving Solskjaer with only Scott McTominay, Fred and teenager James Garner as the only options in central midfield.

To solve his team’s creativity problems, Solskjaer should go all out to sign Eriksen.

Eriksen could be the perfect candidate to solve United’s creative woes. He would be a straight upgrade on Juan Mata, whilst providing a massive threat from set-piece scenarios as well.

The Dane has volumes of Premier League experience and Solskjaer’s pressing style will suit Eriksen, as he is creative and can put in a tireless shift for his team at both ends of the pitch.

In the video below, one can see the former Ajax man’s quality in the final third and his ability to score goals.

Verdict

Eriksen will undeniably add some much-needed creativity and fluidity to Solskjaer’s attack. All in all, the Red Devils’ top-four hopes will get a massive boost if they manage to land the Dane during the upcoming transfer window.
