Why Chelsea shouldn’t hesitate one little bit to bring this magical Brazilian back to England in the summer

Why Chelsea should go all out for Philippe Coutinho to replace Hazard

According to a report from Sport, Chelsea are interested in signing Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho to replace Eden Hazard.

According to the Sun, Real Madrid’s priority in the summer is Hazard, who has just 18 months left on his current deal with the Blues. Given that Hazard hasn’t yet signed a new deal at Stamford Bridge, it would be difficult for Chelsea to stop Real Madrid from signing the Belgian superstar.

With Hazard playing in his prime, the summer transfer window could be the perfect opportunity for the south Londoners to cash in on their star playmaker if he hesitates to sign a new deal. And with the money they get in selling Hazard, Maurizio Sarri should invest in signing Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona.

Eden Hazard

Philippe Coutinho, 26, joined Barcelona from Liverpool in an eye-popping £142m deal in January 2018. But the Brazilian has endured a troubled 12 months since securing his move to Barcelona. The 26-year-old has been in and out of Ernesto Valverde’s team this season, managing just four goals and two assists in 20 league appearances.

However, Philippe Coutinho has been a regular after Ousmane Dembele’s injury but he has shown very little signs of hitting top form and clearly doesn’t look like the player he was at Liverpool. Nothing is clicking at the moment for the Brazilian, with the 26-year-old lacking self-belief and the confidence with which he terrorised Premier League defenders.

Christian Pulisic is set to join up with the Chelsea squad at the end of the season but Chelsea should break their bank once again by bringing Coutinho back to the Premier League at the end of the season.

Philippe Coutinho

Coutinho has already shown he can flourish in the Premier League, becoming Liverpool’s talisman under Jurgen Klopp. So there’ll be very little risk attached to his signature, and that coupled with his creativity, dribbling skills, long-range shooting and goalscoring abilities would make him a brilliant fit under Sarri at Stamford Bridge.

While Chelsea have already shown that they have started planning for the next season by signing Pulisic, the departure of Hazard would leave a big hole in the squad. A replacement for the Belgian playmaker should be high up there on Sarri’s wish list.

Coutinho may have struggled at Barcelona but he remains a class act and could be the ideal replacement for Hazard at Chelsea.
