Chelsea would be utterly foolish to let go of their prodigious loan star amidst Bundesliga interest – agreed?

Chelsea opinion: Chelsea should keep Tammy Abraham at the club

The Daily Mail has reported that RB Leipzig are very keen on making a move for Chelsea star Tammy Abraham. While the young striker is contracted to Chelsea, he is out on loan with Aston Villa and has been brilliant for the Lions.

Easily their best player this season, the 21-year-old has been in exceptional form all season. So far, he has managed to score 22 goals and create two more in just 35 appearances for Aston Villa.

This includes a 15-game streak where he scored 16 goals, including a four-goal haul against Nottingham Forest, which showcased the best of Tammy Abraham.

The likes of Jadon Sancho and Rabbi Matondo have already made the move across over the last few years, flourishing in the Bundesliga. That has seen RB Leipzig show interest in doing something similar with the Daily Mail reporting that Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham are among their top targets.

However, Chelsea cannot afford to lose Abraham especially given how he has performed this season. The young forward could be Chelsea’s answer to their striker issues, with the club struggling to find a regular goalscorer.

Gonzalo Higuain was supposed to be their answer, but the Argentine has struggled to score goals since arriving. So far, he’s just managed to score three goals in the Premier League, which includes two against the already-relegated Huddersfield Town.

Moreover, Higuain looks far from the striker that Maurizio Sarri believes that he is. His movement and ability on the ball have clearly regressed.

And unlike Abraham, the former Real Madrid striker is coming to the end of his career, which is something that Chelsea need to keep an eye on. The Blues have a wealth of talent out on loan, and they need to start using them.

Players like Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount have showcased just what they can do. That’s something the Blues need to start taking advantage of in the near future. Their transfer ban will hit them hard and using the youth stars they have at their disposal will help them move ahead.

Conclusion

While Tammy Abraham isn’t a world-class striker, the 21-year-old has clearly shown that he has the talent and the mentality to flourish anywhere in the world.

His spell with Swansea City should be kept aside when talking about the young forward and if Chelsea don’t start making in-roads with him, then the Bundesliga is a great place to establish himself.
