Why Jack Grealish must snub Tottenham and move to Chelsea instead

According to MetroChelsea are planning to hijack Tottenham Hotspur‘s move for Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish. The playmaker has been heavily linked with a move to north London but new Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is also keen on the 22-year-old.

Former Chelsea captain John Terry, who played for Villa last season, has stated that Grealish has what it takes to succeed at Stamford Bridge. With that in mind, Chelsea must submit a bid and sign him.

Working with Sarri would allow the playmaker to add a different dimension to the squad. Here’s why Grealish must move to Chelsea instead of Tottenham this summer:

Sarri’s system will suit Grealish

Maurizio Sarri loves to play a high-pressing, high-intensity system which suits midfielders who are good on the ball. Grealish prefers to make the ball talk in the central areas of the pitch to split open opposition defences.

The 22-year-old has a pass completion rate of over 85%, with which he fabricated 59 chances in 30 league appearances last season. Furthermore, the Villa midfielder is diligent enough to press high when required and track back to defend and help the team out.

A player of Grealish’s calibre would definitely help Sarri strengthen the Chelsea midfield. The Italian can also provide him with greater freedom to work with the likes of Cesc Fabregas, knowing that a superb N’Golo Kante is shielding the backline.

On the other hand, at Tottenham, there are enough creators and they only lack cover in the defensive midfield area.

Verdict

It is quite tough for a young player to choose between the two London giants. Joining Tottenham means Champions League football to play for but Chelsea, under Sarri, seem slightly more attractive at this point.

Hence, Grealish should choose the Blues instead of their London rivals. He is only 22, meaning the Englishman has plenty of time to further improve his game and play big tournaments in the future.
