Celtic appointing this visionary 42-year-old as their permanent boss would be an outstanding step towards a bright future

Celtic FC opinion: Hoops target Marco Rose as their boss – good choice?

The Daily Record has reported that Celtic’s top permanent managerial candidate for next season Marco Rose has been targeted by both Wolfsburg and Schalke FC.

While the report does indicate that the Hoops lead the race for the 42-year-old manager, both the Bundesliga sides are looking for new representation and believe that Rose is their man.

Currently contracted to RB Salzburg, the German manager has built quite a reputation for himself in Austria over the last few years. He joined Salzburg after his playing career in 2013, as a youth coach, climbing up the ladder to the first-team side within a space of four years.

His first season happened to be last season, and in his first managerial season, Rose did well. He led Salzburg to the Europa League semi-finals, won the league title and finished as the runner-up in the league cup. His second season has seen him continue that form.

Salzburg had a massive lead in the title race, with 9 points separating them and the rest of the pack. But now with the table divided into two separate groups, things will get interesting. However, all this simply shows why Celtic should make Marco Rose their next manager, especially if the club are to continue winning titles.

The 42-year-old has a proven record with RB Salzburg and while Celtic will only be his second managerial appointment, it’s a risk that the Hoops should take. Unlike Rodgers, Rose deploys a formation that is very similar to what Jurgen Klopp uses, a 4-3-3 combined with heaving pressing.

However, unlike the average 4-3-3, Rose’s formation more often than not uses a number 10 behind the two strikers. This combined with their fluent and rapid attacking style of play, has produced some exciting football.

Furthermore, like Rodgers did previously, Rose likes to call up youth players to the first-team squad, giving them their debut at an early age. The likes of Amadou Haidara, Diadie Samassékou and a few others are just a handful of examples.

That is Celtic’s market strategy, growing young players and selling them for big profits, which further emphasises why Rose would be a perfect fit. But with a few others in the race, it’s up to Hoops to decide whether or not Neil Lennon would be the better appointment than Marco Rose.

Conclusion

Celtic need a new boss and that is a given fact. While Neil Lennon has done relatively well since taking over, there is a reason that the former Celtic boss left.

Not to mention, the Hoops need to move forward and appointing someone from their past isn’t the answer. Someone like Marco Rose is the answer, and the German can lead them into the future.
