Bristol Rovers opinion: Should the Pirates make a move for Jack Bonham?

Bristol Rovers have a tough summer ahead of them as they are set to lose not one but ten players, with manager Graham Coughlan looking at a complete overhaul. They need to make a lot of changes to their squad and it doesn’t make for good reading.

They have a lot of work ahead of them and given that the Pirates are a League One club aiming higher, it has to be the right players. They’ve only been in the League One for three years, having clawed their way up from the fifth tier of English football.

After being relegated to the fifth tier at the end of the 2013/14 season, Bristol Rovers made their comeback with a bang. The club not only won the fifth tier on their first try but also did the same in the fourth tier.

However, the League One or the third tier of English football has proven to be a little tougher but the Pirates are sustaining their rise. They’re doing relatively well, finishing 10th, 13th and 15th in the last three seasons but need to improve as the quality in the league keeps increasing.

They need to keep up with the trend but doing so might be harder than they think. But with time and the right additions on board, Bristol Rovers do have a good chance of surviving the League One and may even be able to thrive.

With Brentford releasing star man Jack Bonham, Bristol Rovers should look to bring him back. Bristol Post has reported the same, with the Pirates keen on bringing back their star.

He spent this season on loan with the club and did exceptionally well over the course of the season, playing 98% of the games. Jack Bonham finished the season with 15 clean sheets in just 40 appearances in the League One, which is why the club are keen on bringing him back.

But with Bristol Rovers losing both Adam Smith and Sam Slocombe, they need someone like Bonham. His ability both on and off the ball is rather incredible, but it’s the 25-year old’s reflexes and decision-making, which makes him a great signing.

Conclusion

Bristol Rovers need someone like Jack Bonham in their line-up and the 25-year-old needs a move to another side in the near future. He’s a rather talented goalkeeper and with time he will prove to be an asset for the Pirates.

Tom Landry once said "Football is an incredible game. Sometimes it's so incredible, it's unbelievable." Football is and always will be the beautiful game. What every child understands, yet every adult struggles to, is that it is a game that defines the nature of the universe. But that's just me.
