Brighton letting go of their £3m promising starlet in the summer would be nothing but a blunder by Hughton

Brighton opinion: Why Brighton should keep Tudor Baluta

Turkish News outlet Fotosport has revealed that Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Tudor Baluta has been scouted by Turkish side Besiktas. The Turkish giants are very keen on a move for the Romanian prodigy who has flourished during his loan spell with FC Viitorul.

For Brighton, this will be a massive blow, especially with the club looking for young talents to field in the future. The Seagulls only mad a move for Tudor Baluta in the winter, signing the young prodigy for just over £3million (BBC).

They immediately loaned the youth star back to FC Viitorul for the rest of the season with the view bring him permanently in the summer. The 19-year-old has impressed for the Romanian side, climbing up their ranks at a stunning rate.

A versatile player, Baluta can play as either a midfielder or a centre-back, although his preferred position is as a midfielder. That is where the young starlet flourishes, using his 6’3” frame to great effect, which could be crucial to Brighton in the future.

His potential has always been undoubted, with the teenager showcasing the best of his abilities over the last few years. A defensive midfielder by trade, the 19-year-old is the best of both worlds, with the perfect combination of defensive nuance and offensive abilities.

That’s probably why Brighton made a move for the young prodigy, as the club have missed their share of tenacious defensive midfielders. At the moment, manager Chris Hughton has the likes of Yves Bissouma, Davy Propper, Dale Stephens and Beram Kayal at his disposal.

All four are quality midfielders who have done relatively well for the club this season but they aren’t defensive midfielders. That’s where Tudor Baluta can step in and he is perfectly built for the Premier League. That’s exactly why Brighton cannot afford to offload him, no matter how much Besiktas offer the club next summer.

For a mere fee of £3million, the youngster has a bright future ahead of him and will prove to be a valuable asset in the near future. Selling him now will prove to be a big mistake, especially for Brighton.
