Bournemouth opinion: Should the Cherries target Viktor Tsyhankov?

Bournemouth have been by far one of the teams with the most potential outside the top six, especially after the start to the season they had. The Cherries flourished in the first half of the season before ill-timed injuries to key stars saw them suffer a massive drop.

Losing top scorer Callum Wilson, rising star David Brooks and even Lewis Cook to injuries all around the same time hurt the club more than they excepted, so much so that Eddie Howe was struggling to put out a team. But the fact that they still had Ryan Fraser helped the club a lot.

However, if anything, that showed the Bournemouth boss that his team is far from perfect and more so, they need a few more reinforcements before the summer window shuts down.

The likes of Jordon Ibe, Junior Stanislas, Andrew Surman and a few others have struggled to make an impact this season and that has affected the team. Going forward, that’s something Howe needs to address and Viktor Tsyhankov could be a solution worth considering.

The 21-year-old plies his trade for Ukraine side Dynamo Kyiv and despite their 8-0 hammering at the hands of Chelsea, the Ukrainian side have produced some great talents over the years.

The likes of Andriy Yarmolenko, Jeremain Lens and Andriy Shevchenko have all flourished there before moving on to greater things.

Primarily a right-winger, Tsyhankov has flourished for Dynamo Kyiv, playing like a man possessed this season, with 12 goals and 11 assists to his name. However, what makes him perfect for Bournemouth is his speed and work rate.

As mentioned, the youngster primarily plays as a right-winger, which will allow David Brooks to play in his preferred attacking midfield position. But what Viktor Tsyhankov excels at is cutting in on his wonderful left foot and letting one fly from range if required, as he has done this season.

That combined with his speed and dribbling in wide areas allows him to buzz around the final third with a lot of purpose. Furthermore, he is exceptionally creative in the final third.

Combined with Brooks and Fraser, he could form a trio of nightmare for most defences. If he combines with Callum Wilson’s selfless center-forward work, it’s a quartet that will help Bournemouth move forward.

Conclusion

Adding someone as talented as Viktor Tsyhankov will certainly help Bournemouth find their way even in the toughest times. Eddie Howe’s proven record with young players makes this a sensible move for both sides and moreover, it’s time for Tsyhankov to test himself in a bigger league.

Tom Landry once said "Football is an incredible game. Sometimes it's so incredible, it's unbelievable." Football is and always will be the beautiful game. What every child understands, yet every adult struggles to, is that it is a game that defines the nature of the universe. But that's just me.
