Blackburn Rovers must leave no stone unturned in tying down this influential £750,000 star to a new contract

Why Blackburn Rovers should offer Bradley Dack a new deal

According to the Lancashire Telegraph, Blackburn Rovers have started negotiations with influential playmaker Bradley Dack over a new contract.

The 25-year-old London born attacking midfielder already has a contract at Ewood Park until the summer of 2021 but Rovers want to secure his long-term future with an improved deal, which is supposed to get him in line with some of the highest earners at the club.

Dack has been one of Blackburn’s standout performers since completing a £750,000 switch from League One outfit Gillingham back in the summer of 2017.

Manager Tony Mowbray has showered his praises on the 25-year-old after he marked his 100th appearance for the club with a goal in their most recent 2-1 victory away at Reading in the Championship on Saturday. (h/t Lancashire Telegraph)

The playmaker netted his third league goal of the campaign this weekend to help his team register their fourth victory in the Championship, as Tony Mowbray’s side finished Round 8 placed 10th in the standings, just a couple of points behind Nottingham Forest, who currently hold the final playoff spot.

Dack was one of the key driving forces behind Blackburn’s promotion-winning League One campaign in the 2017-18 season, where he racked up 18 goals and 9 assists to propel the club back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

Well, he hasn’t looked back since then and, not only has the playmaker successfully made his transition to the second-tier over the past twelve months or so but he has established himself as one of the best No.10s in the division, with his stellar start to life in the Championship putting some of the Premier League clubs on red alert.

An indispensable weapon for Rovers in the final third and one of the first names on Tony Mowbray’s teamsheet, Dack has already hit the ground running at Ewood Park this term, scoring in three consecutive games against West Brom, Millwall and Reading.

Dack already has 3 goals in 8 league outings thus far and if he continues his rich vein of form, few would back against him emulating his tally of 15 goals and 7 assists from the previous campaign.

To put things into perspective, Dack continues to be a key figure at Ewood Park and it should be a no-brainer for Blackburn Rovers to reward him with a new deal at the earliest.

The 25-year-old’s stellar performances haven’t eluded the eyes of the top-flight clubs and Rovers need to make sure that they do everything in their power to hold on to their most creative attacking player.

The former Gillingham star boasts of a tally of 40 goals in 100 appearances for the club, which is quite eye-watering for a player who is not an out-and-out centre-forward by trade, while his tally of 34 assists highlights his ability to carve out chances for fun almost every week.

Add to that his uncompromised work-rate, drive, determination and stamina, and it is not difficult to see why he is such a key component of Rovers’ attack.

Dack is blessed with exceptional goalscoring prowess for a specialist No.10 and it won’t be a surprise to see him being the subject of a bidding war from the top-flight clubs next summer if he continues to rack up such impressive numbers.

To conclude, a new deal with improved terms is apparently Blackburn’s best bet to keep hold of their key man and while it still might not be enough, they should leave no stone unturned in their efforts to secure Dack’s long-term future.
