Why Birmingham Have Struck Gold With The Double Signing Of This Premier League Duo

Why Signing Arsenal Duo Bramall And Jenkinson Is A Good Move For Birmingham

Championship side Birmingham City have moved to sign Arsenal’s Cohen Bramall and Carl Jenkinson on loan until the end of the season and it looks like an excellent move by the West Midlands club.

Full-back Jenkinson, now 25, was afforded only five appearances by Arsene Wenger last season at Arsenal, with Jenko having spent the previous two seasons on loan at West Ham United.

Bramall plays on the other side, a left-back who joined Arsenal from non-league Hednesford in January and in need of some big league experience. The 21-year-old got straight into action for the Gunners, playing nine league games for the under-23 side and impressing the boss.

Birmingham have also made an excellent loan signing in Southampton’s Sam Gallagher to complement these defensive signings, in what looks like a really positive week for Harry Redknapp’s men.

All three players could make their debuts in Birmingham’s EFL Cup second round game against Bournemouth at home on Tuesday. If they impress, they will come straight into contention for the next league match.

In Jenkinson’s case, he is leaving Arsenal for his third loan stint in four years and yet, he has managed to make 62 appearances for his parent club since moving there in 2011. There is still time for the former England under-21 man to make an impact in the Premier League and he is most certainly an improvement on what Birmingham already had in their squad.

Cohen Bramall

He can play at both right-back and centre-back, giving Redknapp some increased defensive options and boosting their narrow play-off chances this term.

Cohen Bramall has not played in Arsenal’s first team as yet after moving from Hednesford, but was given a chance to travel with the first team on their tours of Australia and China during pre-season. This move is just the next stage of his development.

We can expect to see him in and around the Arsenal first team next season and with that in mind, he must represent a huge signing for the St. Andrews club in what is a competitive league.

The defensive duo is an excellent addition and join Gallagher, David Stockdale, Marc Roberts, Cheikh N’Doye and Isaac Vassell in moving to the club over the past few weeks.

Well done Harry!
