A perfect support for Jutkiewicz – Birmingham City signing this towering 6ft 2in starlet would get them a gem of a talent

Birmingham City should go all out for Inter Milan’s George Puscas

According to Birmingham Live, Birmingham City have been credited with an interest in Inter Milan striker George Puscas.

The Romanian U21 international, who spent this past season on loan at Serie B side Palermo, was expected to make his stay permanent, but, in a twist of fate, he has returned to the San Siro due to the Sicily club’s ongoing financial difficulties. (h/t Birmingham Live)

The Blues are apparently looking to bolster their strike force ahead of the upcoming Championship campaign following the departure of last season’s top-scorer Che Adams to Southampton earlier in the summer and Blues manager Pep Clotet has set his sights on the Romanian starlet.

Puscas is coming off a fruitful loan spell at Palermo where he amassed 9 goals and 3 assists in 33 appearances in all competitions the last term, although his heroics on the international front are likely to have caught the eye of the Blues.

The 23-year-old made eyeballs turn in the recently-concluded 2019 UEFA U-21 European Championship, scoring 4 goals in 4 games, including a strike in a 4-2 humbling of England U21s and a brace against Croatia.

The towering centre-forward, who made his senior debut for Inter Milan in the Serie A in the 2014-15 season, has struggled to nail down a starting role at the San Siro, spending time on loan at Bari and Novara in Serie B, as well as in the top-flight with Benevento.

Despite managing decent enough returns on those loan stints, Puscas has regularly found himself on the fringes of Inter’s first-team, and with his contract set to expire next summer, the Nerazzurri are probably going to have to make a call on his future sooner rather than later.

Having represented Romania at all youth levels, Puscas currently boasts of an incredible scoring record of 18 goals in 25 games at the U-21 level. The 23-year-old has also made a bright start to his senior international career, finding the net on 4 occasions in 8 outings.

Standing at 6ft 2in with a towering and sinewy frame, Puscas has been widely tipped to be the future of Romania’s front line for years to come.

The youngster has earned rave reviews for his general nous of getting into the right areas to find the net, whilst his supreme aerial ability, imposing physicality, smart hold-up play, as well as the ability to link up with his teammates using short exchanges, have also made plenty of eyeballs turn.

To put things into perspective, Birmingham City have already made six signings this summer but the Blues are yet to find a replacement for Adams up top, and bringing in a talented young striker like Puscas could solve the club’s crisis to a considerable extent.

Lukas Jutkiewicz, who registered double figures both in terms of goals and assists last season, is expected to be the spearhead of the club’s attack for the upcoming campaign but someone like Puscas could be the ideal man to complement him, whilst also increasing competition for places and providing cover up front.

Conclusion

George Puscas looks like a real talent at this stage of his career, and with that in mind, the Blues should not hesitate to play a gamble on the Romanian international this summer.
