Why Aston Villa Would Find It Difficult To Hold On To Grealish Amidst Leicester Interest

In a move that could really bolster Leicester’s attack, Jack Grealish is being talked about as a potential target for the Foxes next season. Grealish made a brief and event-filled appearance in the Premier League a few years back where his talent was overshadowed by his off-field antics.

After suffering the drop to the Championship, however, Grealish has fought his way back, letting his ability do the talking. His impressive performances have seen Aston Villa rise to 4th place in the Championship, almost certainly confirming a spot in the playoffs for the Premier League next season.

Leicester’s interest

According to the Mirror, Leicester City are considering a £20m move for the 22-year-old, after his strong midfield performances since the turn of the year. Grealish has 3 goals and 5 assists to his name and Claude Puel has identified him as the player who will operate in the No.10 role behind Vardy.

Grealish’s stats are impressive considering that he began his season only in December after a freak kidney injury that sidelined him in the first half of the season.

All this rests on whether Villa do get promoted or not. Grealish is likely to stick with them should they manage to win their playoffs at the end of the season.  If Villa do fall short, then Leicester would have a good chance to get their hands on the in-form midfielder.

John Terry’s influence

Grealish also revealed that John Terry has played a significant role in motivating him and providing him with the inspiration to succeed. Grealish admitted that playing with the Chelsea legend in the squad has taught him discipline, after having watched John Terry’s practices in training and after-games.

Grealish said:

“Me and him are always in the training ground chatting and doing whatever. I do get on so well with him.

“I think everyone knows how much of a good player he has been and what he has done in the game. Even when he first signed I had to pinch myself a little bit.

“He is so professional in everything he does and that rubs off on us young players.”

Grealish has it in him to become an excellent asset for any team he plays for, provided he keeps his discipline in check. Now that he has matured since his early days for the club, his performances mirror his ambition and Villa will have a real fight on their hands if they are to keep hold of him for next season.
