According to Daily Mail, Ajax star Quincy Promes has admitted that he is interested in moving to England to play in the Premier League.
The 27-year-old has been in fine form this season. His display against Chelsea in the Champions League was impressive, as he first forced an own goal through his cross from the flanks and later went on to score Ajax’s second.
The former Spartak Moscow man, who made a move from Sevilla to Ajax in the summer, had attracted interest from Liverpool and Arsenal earlier, as per Mirror.
Promes came through the ranks of Ajax’s youth academy and has highlighted his performances with powerful displays on many an occasion. In his four years at Spartak Moscow, he played 135 matches, scoring 66 times and providing 33 assists.
He moved to Sevilla from Spartak Moscow, following which Ajax then secured his services.
In Ajax colours, he has scored 8 goals in the 12 matches so far in the Eredivisie. As per whoscored, Promes has averaged 40.1 passes per game with an accuracy of 87.9%. He has also averaged 3 shots per game, finding the back of the net 8 times this season.
With an overall rating of 7.50% in the Eredivisie this term, his figures speak volumes of his ability as a natural left-winger.
Promes has also shown great character with his inclusion in the Netherlands national team. He has 40 caps to his name for the Dutch national team and has scored 7 times since earning his debut in March 2014.
Meanwhile, Arsenal, despite starting well this season, have dropped down to 6th in the league standings. They need to add firepower to their attacking ranks.
Though Arsenal are defensively weak, they are in need of someone who can control the team on the left side. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has mostly played as a centre-forward, which leaves them with only 18-year-old Bukayo Saka, who is yet to make the spot his own.
To put things into perspective, Arsenal need an experienced player in the form of Quincy Promes. He could strike a good partnership with Aubameyang upfront and also bang in goals whenever required.
The Gunners need to add depth to their squad in order to nail down a spot in the Champions League next season and Quincy Promes has the qualities to do all that and more.
With that in mind, Unai Emery must put up a good fight against other Premier League teams in January to sign Promes.
