Arsenal would regret if they don’t sign this versatile Bundesliga star and Emery must get him

Arsenal opinion: Gunners should sign Nadiem Amiri next summer

When Unai Emery shocked Manchester United with his team selection including Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang altogether, it proved to be a masterstroke as Arsenal dominated the opening half of the game.

That was before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer changed things but that failed to make a difference and the Gunners won the game 2-0.

That being said, Mesut Ozil has failed to make an impact over the last few months, with him being fazed out of the team. While his quality is undeniable, the 29-year-old has struggled to cope with Unai Emery’s demands for greater work rate defensively.

But with Aaron Ramsey on his way out of the club (Guardian), the North London side need a creative force. While the likes of Ever Banega (Mirror), Adrien Rabiot (Mirror), and even Hector Herrera (Mirror) linked with a move to the club, one man they should look towards is Nadiem Amiri. The 22-year-old is a versatile midfielder who plays for Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.

He joined the club as a teenager and has since worked his way up from the youth teams, making his debut in 2015. Since then, Amiri’s rise has been phenomenal, with the German using a stunning blend of tactical intelligence and creativity to his benefit.

His work rate, agility, guile and lethal right foot has seen him flourish for the club. However, what sets Amiri apart from other creative midfielders is the fact that he’s willing to do his fair share of defensive duties.

This allows him to play a deeper role for Hoffenheim, which should interest both Arsenal and Unai Emery. As mentioned, losing Ramsey will be a massive blow, yet it’s something that can be softened by adding someone like Nadiem Amiri.

While the 22-year-old is yet to find consistency in front of goal, that’s something which will only improve with time as the German finds his footing.

Injuries and other issues have halted him from progressing any further, thus, this has stunted any development, which has played a part on the young footballer’s mind. However, that’s something that can be ironed out under the right manager and if nothing else, Unai Emery is exactly that.

The former Sevilla and PSG manager has worked wonders with a few players, even helping Rob Holding and Alex Iwobi in his short spell with Arsenal so far. While that may not play a part in any move for Nadiem Amiri, it’s a factor that should be considered by the player.

Conclusion

The Gunners were linked with Amiri in November 2018 by the Sun, but so were arch-rivals Tottenham just before the winter window. But nothing materialised and it’s a move that Arsenal have to make before they lose a highly rated star to some other club, as it has happened in the past.
