Why Arsenal Must Beat Chelsea And Manchester United To Sign This Highly-Rated Jamaican Winger

With the January window fast approaching, there have been several rumours linking young players to big clubs and one name that refuses to die down is Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey. With the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United interested in his services, it does seem like the battle to acquire his signature will heat up as days go by.

Considering his displays so far, Bailey has been earmarked for a great future and moving to the Premier League is likely to help him to do just that. However, in the present situation, it is imperative for the Gunners to beat their competition to land Bailey.

At Arsenal, the need for a quality winger has only been accentuated with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil’s futures up in the air. Both players were keen to leave in the summer and will be likely to do so next summer. They are yet to agree to fresh terms and considering how vital they have been for the Gunners, Arsene Wenger will be in a tough spot if he fails to retain them. There is a serious shortage of quality options in those areas at the Emirates, hence making it crucial for the French manager to sign Bailey.

At 20 years of age, Bailey has performed admirably well and his performances only keep getting better. He is quite young, meaning Wenger can mould him to fit the Gunners’ set-up. He could also prove to be a long-term option to replace either Sanchez or Ozil. With his blistering pace and creative prowess, Bailey can do a lot to support either Alexandre Lacazette or Olivier Giroud up front.

Also, Arsenal’s quest for landing AS Monaco star Thomas Lemar seems a bit unlikely right now. Lemar rose to fame across Europe after last season’s Champions League. His price tag has skyrocketed and so has the attention from a host of other clubs.

In contrast, Bailey does seem like a more economical option for the Gunners to consider. Instead of battling with other clubs to land a player as expensive as Lemar, Wenger would be better off trying to sign the Jamaican winger.

His skills know no bounds and he boasts of immense potential. His technique is top-notch and has a very mature reading of the game which often translates to effective decision-making on the field. Considering the situation Arsenal are in, Bailey does seem like a good choice to act as a replacement for either one of Wenger’s current contract rebels. Furthermore, Bailey can also be a solid option in case Arsenal fail to land Lemar in the future.
