Man United appointing this 6-time Serie A champion would not be a wise idea after all – Agreed?

Why appointing Allegri could be a bad move for Manchester United

A report from Manchester Evening News claims that Fabio Capello has urged Massimiliano Allegri to wait for the Manchester United job. The 52-year-old left Juventus at the end of last season.

Bayern Munich are on the hunt for a new boss after sacking Niko Kovac and Allegri has chances of managing the Bavarians.

Allegri has been out of a job since he left Juventus in the summer following a successful trophy-laden five years in Turin.

United have been beaten by Crystal Palace, West Ham, Newcastle and Bournemouth this season so far. Solskjaer has been under immense pressure to finish in the top four but that seems unlikely to happen.

At the moment, Manchester United sit at 10th place and their season has been a dismal one, having won only 3 out of their last 11 league matches. The Red Devils seem to be far from their good days.

Before his five successful years with Bianconeri, Allegri had won the Serie A with AC Milan. He had also coached other teams in Italy like Cagliari and SPAL. His stint at Juventus saw him lift the Serie A title five times consecutively. He has won a total of 6 Serie A titles so far.

Massimiliano Allegri (L)

Allegri has been a very successful manager in Italy. His compatriot and ex-Italy manager Marcello Lippi believes that Allegri could be the one to galvanise Old Trafford (h/t Daily Mail). The 72-year-old has also heaped praise on Allegri saying he knows the Italian could succeed at Old Trafford.

Having said this, let’s not forget that Allegri led a bunch of high profile players at Juventus, from whom he knew what to expect. They were all experienced. Allegri goes in with his most preferred formation of 3-5-2 and it worked in the Italian League.

At the same time, when Jose Mourinho was United’s boss, he could not bring positive results with the same formation. Allegri has no experience in coaching teams outside Italy and this will not be of any help when he enters a tougher league.

Conclusion

If Manchester United do not want to proceed with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, then they must wait for a better person to be available. Taking Allegri to lead the present team would lead them to different problems.

Allegri would have to take his time to adapt to the level of the Premier League and with the language barrier, things may turn worse for Manchester United in the future. It would be wise if United’s management wait for the right choice to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
