Leeds signing this 22-year-old starring for Championship rivals would be a steal

Why Andy Rinomhota would be a smart signing for Leeds United

According to Football Insider (h/t Berkshire Live), Leeds United are keeping tabs on Reading midfielder Andy Rinomhota.

Andy Rinomhota, 22, who won Reading’s Player-of-the-Season accolade last season, signed a new contract with Royals back in February to keep him at the club until 2022. He has been a rare bright spark in a slow start to the season by Reading.

The 22-year-old has been highlighted as a target for Leeds United in ‘both January’s transfer window and next summer’, adds the report (h/t Berkshire Live).

Leeds United, meanwhile, are well in the hunt to win promotion into the Premier League. The Whites are an exciting, attacking side but they lack squad depth.

However, when it comes to the midfield department, Bielsa has a plethora of options and signing one in January won’t make much sense. But the Argentinean tactician should start building the squad for the future by investing smartly in young players. And Leeds cannot allow Andy Rinomhota to slip away.

Rinomhota has been a regular fixture in the Reading side this season, impressing alongside the likes of Ovie Ejaria and John Swift in the engine room. He’s shown composure on the ball and has the energy to play his part on both ends of the pitch.

A move to Leeds could help Rinomhota fulfil his massive potential under the astute Bielsa. The English-Zimbabwean midfielder is proven at the Championship level and would be a great fit for this Leeds side.

Verdict

Signing Rinomhota would be a great coup for the Whites. It would not only strengthen the squad but also provide them with a tighter grip on the automatic promotion spots.
