Why Alexis Sanchez Should Snub A Move To Manchester City And Join Real Madrid Instead

Alexis Sanchez is expected to leave Arsenal either in January or in the upcoming summer. He was supposed to exit in the last window itself but it did not happen at the last minute, which forced him to stay back with the Gunners. The player seems unhappy to say the least. His displays have been lacklustre – barring a few good ones here and there. This inconsistency only goes on to show that he is keen on heading out through the exit door but where should he go?

Manchester City were believed to be the top contenders to land him. Pep Guardiola is known to be an ardent admirer of the Chilean superstar. He may have failed to land his man in the summer but he could reignite his interest once more. Meanwhile, Real Madrid have also been linked with Sanchez lately and perhaps he could relish the thought of returning to the La Liga even if it means playing for his former club Barcelona’s arch-rivals.

However, given a choice between the two clubs, Sanchez is likely to be better off choosing Los Blancos. It could cause a rift between his fan base at Barcelona but if you look at Manchester City, you would know that they have no need for attacking players. Their team is graced by the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, David Silva and the list could just go on. In such a situation, having Sanchez would only be surplus.

Moreover, having Sanchez at City would only hamper the chances of youngsters like Sane and Sterling, who have been so brilliant this time. When Sterling initially joined the Sky Blues, he was struggling but Guardiola has allowed him to blossom into the player that he is today and his growth could be stunted severely if a player like Sanchez joins the team.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, are in dire need of dominance up front. They are struggling in the La Liga as well as the Champions League and are far from putting up similar thunderous performances like the previous season. Sanchez could add an interesting dimension to their attack and that could prove to be beneficial since Gareth Bale continues to suffer from a slew of injuries. Thus, Sanchez is likely to enjoy a more prominent role at Santiago Bernabeu instead of the Etihad stadium since he can offer a lot more to the struggling Spanish giants when compared to City.
