Who’s this Liverpool and Tottenham target to have signed new contract at his club? All you need to know

Morgan Gibbs-White

Scout Report – Morgan Gibbs-White

Wolverhampton Wanderers are understood to have signed a new contract with teenage star Morgan Gibbs-White, despite the player attracting attention from Premier League bigwigs such as Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. He played a key role for England in the FIFA U17 World Cup in India last year and has been monitored by a lot of potential suitors since then. However, Nuno Espirito Santo has managed to keep them all at bay by handing him a new contract on his 18th birthday.

He has already made his debut for the Wolves, which was in the FA Cup match against Stoke City and now with his long-term future sorted, it will be interesting to see how far the youngster can go. With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at his profile.

History

Born in 2000 in Stafford, England, Gibbs-White joined the Wolves at the tender age of 8 and was a part of their esteemed youth academy. He progressed through the ranks quite rapidly and established himself as one of their most promising midfield talents. Having played for the club at all age groups, the 18-year-old is a true-blue Wolves player and he made his debut for them at the age of 16, when he came on as a substitute against Stoke City last January.

As far as his international career is concerned, Gibbs-White rose to greater prominence by playing for the England U17 side that ultimately lifted the coveted World Cup. He scored twice in the tournament and put in some impressive displays for the side.

Playing Style

A central midfielder by trade, Gibbs-White boasts of a natural sense of attacking intent. He is quite influential when it comes to creating opportunities for the forwards to capitalise on and he does not shy away from scoring either.

The teenager is blessed with a mature reading of the game and that reflects on his performances on the field. He can dictate the midfield proceedings quite well and that will always be one of his best traits but Gibbs-White needs to work towards ensuring he fulfils his defensive duties as well.

Gibbs-White’s Future

Having signed a new contract with Wolverhampton, his long-term future is definitely secure. This is the best thing that could have happened to the player, since moving to a new club could have seriously dented his development. At present, he can work his way into the first-team for Wolves if he is perseverant enough and given the way they have played this season, a promotion to the top-flight seems extremely possible.
