Who’s this £10m future Harry Kane replacement targeted by Tottenham? All you need to know

David Brooks

David Brooks – Scout Report

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in a summer move for up-and-coming Sheffield United forward David Brooks. The 20-year-old sensation has played primarily as a central midfielder and as an attacking midfielder for the Championship outfit this season. He is already being touted to have a bright future in the Premier League and Spurs are understood to be keen on signing him as a future replacement for the prolific Harry Kane.

As of now, a deal worth about £10million plus extras is on the table and it will be interesting to see if Sheffield decide to part ways with the promising player. That said, let’s take a closer look at Brooks’ profile.

History

Born in 1997 in Warrington, England, Brooks embarked on his football journey as a youth player with Manchester City. He was a part of their academy from the tender age of 7 and despite spending a decade with the club, Brooks eventually chose to join Sheffield United in 2014.

It took him a year to earn his first professional contract and that same year, he was loaned out to Halifax Town. However, it was in 2016 that he first made his debut for the Blades and he has appeared for the club sporadically since then.

Brooks is quite impressive whenever he is on the field and he even signed a contract extension with Sheffield last October, tying him down to Bramall Lane until 2021. As far as his international career is concerned, Brooks has played for the England U20 side but currently, he represents Wales.

Playing Style

Brooks is blessed with top-class dribbling skills and he has the ability to surge past defenders because of that. The player is often starved of the ball in wider roles but whenever he occupies a central position, the young sensation is capable of wreaking havoc upon the opposition.

Known for making short, incisive passes to maintain fluidity in the game, Brooks also operates brilliantly behind the striker. He is creative and quite generous in the sense that he never hesitates to set up scoring opportunities for teammates.

Brooks’ Future

Armed with such skills, there is no doubt that Brooks has a bright future ahead of him and Tottenham could be a wonderful place for him to realise his true potential. Mauricio Pochettino is renowned for developing and honing some of the best talents in the Premier League right now and he could work magic with a player as talented as Brooks.

With his creativity and goalscoring knack, it will be interesting to see if they can mould him into the next Harry Kane but as things stand, making a move for Brooks will be a good decision by Spurs.
