Gokhan Tore Scout Report
The youth system at Germany keeps on producing yet again, apart from the myriad talents in the Bundesliga playing currently, the youth system does produce players who start to shine in other leagues as well.
Manchester United have been in the window for a few reinforcements, especially in the wing back region with them having to play with make shift wing backs Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia to name a couple of options. They have been linked with another player who was a rising star in German football but has decided to play for Turkey internationally.
Gokhan Tore has been a sensation this season for Besiktas and can play either as an attacking midfielder or a winger/wing back. The 22 year old could actually move to United as he was also scouted by Arsene Wenger a couple of season’s back, so we do know he could be something special.
Tore was actually playing most of his earlier youth career at Bayer Leverkusen, he was initially a part of the SV Adler Dellbruck youth system and then joined Leverkusen, his performances for the Leverkusen team was noticed by Chelsea’s Frank Arnesen and he was signed up by Chelsea in 2009.
His time at Chelsea was mostly related to the youth team and reserve team as he won a couple of Premier Reserve League titles. He couldn’t make it into the Chelsea first team and was then on the move to join Hamburg in 2011. He managed 6 assists in 17 games for the team but could not open his senior goal scoring account and was then sold to Rubin Kazan. Again at Rubin he could not make much of an impact in his first season and was then sent on loan to Besiktas in 2013.
He started performing at the Turkish club and he made his move to the side permanent in 2014 but his performances for the Turkish giants have not gone unnoticed and it seems he could be on his way to another club.
A skilful winger who has pace to burn, he has often been called as the best dribbler in the Turkish league and that is something he should be proud off. Tore has the pace to take on almost any defender, though he isn’t the fastest in the world. Gokhan surprisingly for a winger does have decent strength and can go head to head with the best of defenders.
Although he does have the pace to play as a wing back, he doesn’t necessarily do the best work in the defensive third. His man marking isn’t the best and often he does switch off from his defensive duties. If Manchester United do take a punt on this young winger, there would be some fireworks but only in the attacking third.
