Apart from the obsession of signing Sweden international Zlatan Ibrahimovic and still no confirmation on a deal being completed yet, Manchester United have turned their attention for the time being on adding other attack-minded players to their squad. Jose Mourinho may be a defence minded coach, but he does know his attack well too and will want the right kind of players in his squad, prior to the start of the new campaign.
One star who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent times and could be possibly on his way to Manchester soon, is 19 year old Switzerland international Breel Embolo.
What is it with the Red Devils and their obsession for 19 year old forwards? First Anthony Martial and now this new guy? Well, there is no doubt that the Frenchman proved be worth the money and now it will be interesting to see what this player can do, if a move to England does indeed happen.
The young attacker is currently playing with Swiss side FC Basel and is said to be wanted by the Premier League giants, in recent weeks. The player has really impressed everyone with his talent and put in a good performance in the game against France, in his side’s last game of the group stages.
He can play, both, on the right wing and at the center as well, depending upon what the manger needs from him and is still quite young, which would mean that if Mourinho or maybe Ryan Giggs(in case he stays) can work with him, he could developed into something even more special.
The star made 40 appearances for Basel in all competitions last term and managed to score a total of 13 goals for his club. Further, he also has a single assist to his name and represents his national side at such a young age, on a regular basis. He has made 13 appearances for Vladimir Petkovic’s side and has already scored once.
There is no doubt that Embolo is a high quality player and he has really been impressive in recent times, which is the reason why a top European club like United are keen on adding him to their squad. Despite that, adjusting to the pace of football in England and playing against such high quality players, will be a challenge in itself in the first place.
Mourinho would surely know how he can utilize the player to the best of his abilities, so that his team can perform really well, which would be the reason why he would want to sign the player in the first place. Interestingly, it will depend now on the player and his interest to look for a new challenge or not.
If he feels that the time to leave his native country is right, he could be heading to the top flight of English football soon and it will be interesting to see how that works out for him.
