As per reports, Leeds United have completed a deal for Leif Davis from League Two side, Morecambe.
Davis, 18, has arrived from the League Two side for an undisclosed fee, penning a three-year contract with the Elland Road club.
The left-back never made a first-team appearance for Morecambe but now that he has joined the Yorkshire giants, Leif should strive to cut the grade at Leeds.
Without further ado, let us have a look at Leif’s profile.
Born on January 12, 2000, in England, Leif started his career with Morecambe. The 18-year-old was considered as one of the brightest talents in the Morecambe academy.
Leif came through the youth system at Morecambe and impressed enough to eventually train with the first-team. He spent two years as a scholar at the Globe arena but failed to make a first-team appearance for the League Two outfit.
Since he has not made a single appearance for Morecambe, it is tough to judge his playing style. But going by his own admission, Leif is a modern-day full-back and loves getting forward to contribute to the team’s attack.
He impressed for the Morecambe U18s over the last year and will initially link up with Carlos Corberan’s U23 side for the 2018/19 campaign.
Leif becomes the latest talented young player to sign for the club, following the arrivals of Sam Dalby, Ryan Edmondson and Jordan Stevens throughout the last campaign.
Leeds have a top-class academy that has produced a number of solid players – many of whom are now plying their trade in the Premier League. Leif is the latest addition to Leeds’ ranks and he must work hard to make the cut at the senior level.
Leif’s acquisition from Morecambe shows Victor Orta’s determination towards bolstering the U23 ranks. There is definitely something unique about the left-back since the Whites have snapped him up despite the fact that he did not make a single first-team appearance in League Two.
