Leicester City opinion – Scout report on Foxes’ new signing Mitch Clark

According to a report in Leicester Mercury, Leicester City have completed the signing of former Aston Villa defender Mitch Clark on a three-year deal running until the summer of 2022.

The 20-year-old, who was released by the Villans after the expiry of his contract, joins the Foxes’ U-23 setup which is led by Steve Beaglehole. (h/t Leicester Mercury)

Clark arrived at Aston Villa at the age of eight and was a part of their youth setup for many a year. However, he didn’t manage to make a senior appearance there.

The youngster was on loan at Port Vale last season, where he played a large chunk of games and gained loads of first-team experience.

Without further ado, let us take a look at the player in depth and analyse his game in a scout report:

Scout Report – Mitch Clark

Age – 20

Main Position – Right-Back

In terms of the positions he can play in, Mitch Clark is predominantly a right-back, but is capable of operating on the other side as well, or as a centre-back.

He has chiefly grown up playing the fullback/wing-back role, with equal emphasis on going forward and delivering crosses along with the defensive duties against wingers.

In terms of the attributes, the youngster is rapid enough to make runs forward and recover in time if needed. He has a very good defensive sense and is good at one-vs-one defending. He is physically strong on/off the ball and can cross the ball with menace.

Apart from minor glitches, Clark’s game is sorted to a larger extent. Subtle improvements would be enough to make him a top-quality player in the coming years.

Conclusion

All in all, we can conclude by saying that Leicester City have bagged a coup by signing Mitch Clark this summer. He would be with the U-23s but the quality is there for him to make a mark in the first-team as well.
