Alan Guimaraes

Scout Report – Alan Guimaraes

With the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Kylian Mbappe doing well at the European stage at such a young age, there are now a number of young players from around the world attracting the interest of some of the biggest clubs in Europe. One such player who is now wanted by the likes of Arsenal and Real Madrid is Alan Guimaraes.

Born in 2000, the 17-year old is currently making headlines, playing for the Brazil U17 squad, who he helped win the South American U17 Championship recently. According to reports, Manchester United and Liverpool are also monitoring his situation at the moment.

A part of the U17 team that fought hard in the FIFA World Cup in India, Guimaraes reportedly has a €50m release clause, which Spanish giants Real Madrid are ready to meet in the near future. But who is this teenager and why are the biggest clubs behind him? Here is a mini scout report of the 17-year old:

A central midfielder by trait, Guimaraes is an attack-minded player, who loves to have the ball at his feet. Known for his innovation and creativity in the final third, he is a gifted player with great technique and even better skill, for a 17-year old.

He has great control of the ball and is exemplary in hold up play. Though he suffers a disadvantage in aerial duels, he more than makes it up with his positioning and understanding of the game. He already has 5 goals and 7 assists in just 14 appearances for Selecao and is a star in the making.

Almost impossible to catch when in full force, Guimaraes is fleet-footed and can turn either way, harassing defenders in the middle of the park. He often takes up positions that can hurt defenders, and can find space for himself, to deliver a path-breaking ball for his teammates.

He is adept at making late runs into the box but is more than happy to sit back and provide balls for his strikers, which are precise more often than not.

At just 17, he is already showing his ability to play at the highest level and not too long later, he would be playing for one of the biggest clubs in Europe. He has the temperament and the ability to thrive under pressure and the amount of responsibility he is ready to take makes Guimaraes a rare gem.
