Who Is This 25-year Old Samba Star Linked With Chelsea? Why He Can Be A Good Squad Player

Lucas Lima

Chelsea seem to be setting up for quite a transfer window next season with Antonio Conte coming into the side. Another player being linked with a move to London is Brazilian Lucas Lima. The 25-year-old is an attacking midfielder who plays for Santos and has been one of their best players this season.

Not many would know about the midfielder but he had also been linked with a move to Real Madrid recently and with Chelsea also targeting him, there can be no smoke without a fire. Lima can play either as an attacking midfielder or as a winger and with the spate of Brazilians playing at Chelsea in recent years, he could be another signing who makes it at Stamford Bridge.

Lima moved to Santos from Internacional and has not looked back ever since. Lima has already won eight caps for the Brazil national team and could be in line to win a few more caps as he is in the squad for the upcoming Copa America Centenario which is to be held in the United States.

The Brazilian isn’t the youngest player in the world and his development might have been complete seeing that he is already 25 years of age but that would not mean that he cannot make the step up to the Premier League.

Lima is like any other South American attacker with a liking for dribbling and passing the ball around. He is most comfortable playing high up the pitch and starting attacks, something that can be used to great effect with the likes of Eden Hazard and Willian on either side of the wing.

The Brazilian also is known for his set-piece ability, another bonus for any club that does sign him. Lima has quick feet as well and that does get him fouled often. Lima isn’t the most physical player in the world but his quickness is the key here which would allow him to get past those English defenders in a jiffy.

Willian, Oscar and Kenedy make up a great Brazilian presence at the club and Lucas could be yet another star who does make Stamford Bridge his home next season. This too would be a signing from the Blues like the Willian or the Matt Miazga ones and to be perfectly honest, not many know how it would work out for Antonio Conte and his new look team.

Lima might find it hard to regularly play for the team but he would make a great squad player for the Blues as they look to conquer the Premier League with some Italian magic at the helm.
