Who Is This 24-Year Italian Midfielder That Arsenal Are After? Everything You Need To Know

Arsenal are looking to strengthen this summer, as they look to win that much awaited Premier League trophy. Arsene Wenger is entering his final year of his contract and if he were to finish one more season without the League title, there will be many who will be calling for his exit. It is essential he does everything possible to mount a serious title challenge next season.

He already has a very talented squad at his disposal, however there are still some gaps which need to be filled before the team is fully ready. The most urgent need is a world class striker who can compliment Giroud. The Gunner signed Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka earlier in the season but that’s been all the transfer activity the Emirates has seen this summer.

Recently Italian based Arsenal scout Neil Banfield said that he would recommend Arsene Wenger write a blank cheque to sign Napoli midfielder Jorginho. Banfield revealed he is a big fan of the 24-year-old, who has long been linked with a number of Premier League clubs.

The midfielder has been in fine form in recent years, which invited Conte’s attention. The midfielder was eligible to play for both Italy and Brazil at international level. He chose to represent Italy, earning 2 caps in 2016. Jorginho began his career with Verona, and helped guide the club to Serie A promotion from Serie B in 2013.

2013/2014 season. After moving to Napoli before the 2013-2014 season, Jorginho has went onto make 75 appearances for the Blues and picking up Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana winners medals in the process. The fact that midfield trio of  Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky and Mathieu Flamini left the club this summer as their contracts expired highlights the need for Wenger to invest in more than one midfield player this summer.

He is has been the creative hub at Napoli, controlling the tempo of the play. He is an excellent reader of the game and has the ability to pick out passes at will. Here is plenty of Italian football culture in the way Jorginho elegantly patrols the middle of the park, combining poised positional play with a healthy cynicism. The 24 year old is a hard working player and doesn’t shy from chasing lost causes. However his physicality and strength is one area of concern as it is so vital in the English Premier League. He must improve on it, if he ever wants to dream of becoming successful in England.

With Wilshere struggling to get back to full form after a lengthy spell on the side, it would be wise for Wenger to invest in Italian midfielder. He would definitely add to the quality of any side he decides to join.
