Who Is The Best Attacking Option For Arsenal To Sign At The Moment? This Real Madrid Sensation Or The Algerian International?

It is high time for Arsenal to step up in the chase for more attacking players up front, as Arsene Wenger goes into that zone of “now or never”. Last summer was a huge disappointment, as the Gunners failed to sign any additional options front and had to do with the likes of Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck, with the English duo struggling with injuries and poor form right through the campaign.

In order to avoid such a disaster this time around, the French manager will look to add more attackers in the upcoming days, with a number of players being linked with a move to the Emirates.

A couple of such stars who have been linked with the north London giants in the recent days are Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez and Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez, with Wenger looking to sign more players who can play on the flanks.

Real Madrid are surely the place to be for any player including the Colombian international, though the lack of game time has been a concern for the 25 year old attacking midfielder, with the long list of players that the newly crowned champions of Europe have amongst their ranks currently.

Further, with respect to the Algerian international, it is clear that a lot of top European clubs are keen on acquiring his services too this summer though Foxes’ boss Claudio Ranieri recently insisted that the winger will remain at the KP Stadium.

Well, if Arsenal were to sign one of them in the upcoming days, who would be better? Who would fit in better into Wenger’s style of football and be a more useful player?

According to me, Mahrez would surely be the better option for the Londoners to sign, if they want to seriously challenge for more titles in the upcoming campaign.

There are various reasons for having either player in the squad, though the major reason for picking Mahrez over the former Monaco man would be his experience of playing in the top flight of English football, along with the fact that he was a regular first team starter last term.

Rodriguez is surely a highly talented star too and both are 25 years old, yet, Zinedine Zidane did not offer him enough football in the previous season. He made a total of 26 appearances for the La Liga giants, out of which just 17 were starts, though he scored 7 times, with 8 assists to his name as well.

Mahrez on the other hand made a total of 39 appearances for Leicester in all competitions, scoring 18 goals with 11 assists as well. He helped his team win the Premier League title, creating history with the club.

Rodriguez too won the Champions League title with Real, though he was not the preferred choice and was a mere spectator on the sidelines, with Zidane not playing him in the finals of the competition as well.

With the amount of money that will be involved in signing either player, it is clear that Wenger will not want to take the risk of signing a player who has not played in England before and would prefer Mahrez over Rodriguez, if given the option to sign one of them.
