Leeds are making sure they do everything possible within their capabilities to return to the Premier League having maintained an impressive form since the start of the 2016-17 Championship season till now, and they continue to edge closer to its fruition with every win.

They currently lie in the playoff zone and are hoping to make quality additions to their ranks in the about-to-end January transfer window in order to boost their promotion chances.

As a result, West Ham United striker Ashley Fletcher and Norwich City winger Sergi Canos have both been linked with an Elland Road switch, with the former reportedly close to completing a loan deal despite a deal appearing dead and buried earlier in the transfer window, while the latter could also be signed on a temporary deal until the end with an option to make permanent.

If this double swoop is sealed, it would definitely go a long way in helping Leeds promotion ambitions considering what both youngsters can bring to the squad in the remaining months of the Championship campaign.

Despite having scored more goals (39) than any other side in the playoff zone at the moment, that 17 of them have come from only Chris Wood signifies a level of overdependence on one player for the goals, and that is a very big risk in the case of injury or a dip in form of the New Zealand international.

In a young, but highly talented Fletcher, Leeds can have a quality backup to call upon every now and then. The 21-year-old England youth international has made just 2 Premier League starts for West Ham while appearing off the bench 10 other times this term, but he hasn’t been able to score, with his only goal of the season coming in the League Cup clash against Manchester United.

Yet, it doesn’t remove from the fact that he can be very lethal in the final third if well-fed by those behind him on the pitch. The former Manchester United is only in his debut Premier League season having spent the last term on loan with Barnsley in the League One. His 5 goals in 21 league outings helped the Yorkshire team to the Championship, and he sure knows a thing or two about playing for promotion.

And so does Sergi Canós who was part of Brentford’s promotion ambitions last term, only for the Bees to finish in 3 places adrift the playoff zone at the end of the season. The Spanish winger registered 7 goals in 38 Championship games during his season-long loan from Liverpool, but he ended up at Norwich last summer after contract talks with the Merseysiders broke down.

Things haven’t quite gone down well at Carrow Road for Canos as he has played just 103 minutes of Championship football thus far, but there is no denying his quality. The abilities of the La Masia graduate on the ball have proven how great he can be to the team’s attack if given the playing time, and it’s why Brentford want him back.

The young winger can be a great backup and competition to Hadi Sacko and Kemar Roofe, with his eye for a goal an added advantage over the aforementioned duo who both have 4 Championship goals between them.

These 2 youngsters can do a whole lot of good for Leeds campaign in the interim, and their combined qualities make for good addition to a squad that could do with them.
