West Ham opinion: Should the Hammers move for Allan Saint-Maximin
West Ham, after the players they signed last summer, should have had a much better season but fate simply wasn’t having that.
Instead, they lost Andriy Yarmolenko to a season-ending injury just a month after he signed, Marko Arnautovic got his head turned by off the field issues and various other factors hurt them.
However, the sheer fact that they somehow managed to attract a manager of Manuel Pellegrini’s stature and added players like Felipe Anderson and Yarmolenko showed a lot of ambition. It was proof that the club was finally moving on from Slaven Bilic and his Dmitri Payet saga, into a new and hopefully better era.
The Hammers are looking to match the stadium they spent so much money on but they’re now out of the running for the final Europa League spot. The Hammers were in the running for much of the season, before their collapse. That being said, there have been signs of improvement.
A 3-1 win over Manchester United, the 1-0 against Tottenham and the 1-1 draw to Liverpool. It showed just what they can do and with the right additions next summer, what they might be able to do in the summer.
The Guardian has reported that the Hammers are keen on a move for Ligue 1 star Allan Saint-Maximin. Just 21 years old, the Nice star has been amongst the club’s best players this season, contributing to 10 goals so far.
His abilities, both on and off the ball, have been crucial to manager Patrick Vieira’s tactics this season. An unpredictable winger, with incredible pace and agility, Saint-Maximin uses it well to terrorize defences in the Ligue 1.
His ability in the final third could improve, Saint-Maximin is far from the finished product but at 21, he has a long long way to go. That should be taken into consideration for West Ham.
His talent and limitless energy will help the club and he can help ease the burden with a healthy contribution of goals over the season. However, like many players, he will need time to adapt but after that, who knows how well he will grow?

Declan Rice’s emergence this season has been incredible and a large part of that should be credited with Manuel Pellegrini’s ability to work with the younger generation. That’s exactly what will happen when Allan Saint-Maximin makes the move.
