According to a report from Football.London, West Ham were interested in signing Sevilla star, Wissam Ben Yedder back in 2016. However, he was deemed too small and the Hammers pulled the plug, leaving the striker to join Sevilla.
Wissam Ben Yedder, 28, has been a prolific goalscorer for Sevilla in the last two seasons. His stats last season were impressive as he netted 30 times across all competitions, earning himself a call-up to France’s international side.
That should be enough for West Ham to reignite their interest in the French striker as they are in dire need for some firepower ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.
Marko Arnautovic has left the club this month in a big-money move to China, while the Hammers have already released Andy Carroll and sold Lucas Perez. Javier Hernandez is the only recognised striker currently at the disposal of Manuel Pellegrini.
The Irons will have money to spend, following the sales of Perez and Arnautovic and they should not hesitate in making a move for Ben Yedder, who has a contract at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan till 2021. Ben Yedder has been scoring heavily in the La Liga for a while and is seen as one of the top strikers across Europe right now.
A fox in the box, he can get in the right place at the right time more often than not and his positioning and reading of the game are often spotless, making him such a tricky customer to stop for the defenders.
The diminutive French international isn’t a one-trick pony as he can hold up play well and bring his team-mates into the game. The ex-Toulouse star can close down defenders and works really hard for his team.
Ben Yedder has the pace and technique to thrive in the Premier League and lead West Ham’s line, potentially forming a strong attack with the likes of Felipe Anderson, Manuel Lanzini and Pablo Fornals.

Looking back through Ben Yedder’s last three seasons and there is clear evidence that he has a knack of being a reliable centre-forward that can score goals of all kinds, whilst delivering in big games as well.
Thus, going all out to sign the Frenchman would be a logical move for West Ham as they need a prolific goalscorer.
Ben Yedder has the qualities to thrive in the Premier League. Thus, he will be an excellent choice for West Ham as he would be able to add a lot of goals to Pellegrini’s attack at the London Stadium.
