West Ham bolstering their midfield by signing this Newcastle star would help them move to the next level

West Ham opinion: The Hammers should make a move for Isaac Hayden

West Ham didn’t have the best time in the Premier League this term. The Hammers started out well but their inconsistency hurt them. It changed the entire season for the club and was one of the man reasons that they even had their downfall.

However, given the money that they spent and the fact that they did appoint Manuel Pellegrini, things should have been different. It has to change in the near future if the Hammers ever want to either keep their best players or somehow challenge the Premier League’s big boys.

That is not a joke, especially when the club has players like Declan Rice and Felipe Anderson amongst others. They are class acts and players who deserve to be in a team that can do a lot more than just survive.

In fact, under Pellegrini, the Hammers have a genuine chance to challenge for a European spot in the near future and that is the truth. All they have to do is change a few things, make a few tweaks elsewhere and add a few more players. The first thing, however, will be to get a consistent goalscorer for their side.

The dependence on Marko Arnautovic to hit 15 plus goals a season is ridiculous and something that has to change. Not just that, but another issue is their ageing midfield core. Barring the aforementioned Rice, the Hammers have the ageing Mark Noble, Pedro Obiang and Carlos Sanchez.

Jack Wilshere, whenever he is fit, makes cameo appearances but that’s all West Ham have. And with Isaac Hayden looking for a new home, the 24-year-old could be the perfect option.

West Ham has already been linked with a move in the past and now the Daily Star has added that the club will re-ignite their interest.

The report adds that with a move for Andre Gomes on the fringes of not happening, the club needs another midfielder. And it further adds that Isaac Hayden is their man.

While the former Arsenal star did initially struggle this season, injuries and various other issues around the club changed that.

And Hayden proved to be a great option, becoming one of Rafael Benitez’s first names on the teamsheet. He’s played every Premier League game since mid-December, which is around the time that Newcastle United started improving.

His sheer presence in the squad made a massive difference and West Ham need him to do exactly the same for them in the near future.

Conclusion

Isaac Hayden has been amongst Newcastle United’s best players since the Magpies made it back into the Premier League. With time and under Manuel Pellegrini’s tutelage, the 24-year-old has the ability to become Mark Noble’s bonafide replacement and that is something the Hammers need.
