Why West Ham should make a move for Man United’s Andreas Pereira
According to the Daily Mail, West Ham United are interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira in January. The Hammers are keen on taking the youngster on loan for the rest of the campaign.
Pereira’s contract at Old Trafford is set to expire at the end of the season and no new deal is in place as of now. The Brazilian also rejected a new three-year contract and is keen to make a move away in order to play regularly (h/t Daily Mail). He has barely featured under Jose Mourinho this season, making just 4 appearances in the league, of which 2 have come off the bench.
The report suggests that Arsenal and Chelsea are also interested in making a move for the Brazilian international. But a move to West Ham United is surely the right one for him in terms of playing time. At the London Stadium, Pereira will have the chance to spark his career and receive the right kind of development under Manuel Pellegrini.
A number of Hammers stars are also out injured, which means Pereira would play a major role under the Chilean manager. He will bring that added sense of flair and guile in the final third. The 22-year-old can play anywhere in the midfield and is comfortable on either flank as well.
He is a pure runner and loves to take on the defenders. Pereira’s directness makes it very hard for the defenders to stop him as well. The Brazilian is also very good at making runs behind the opposition defence.
The likes of Felipe Anderson and Robert Snodgrass will thrive finding Pereira in the spaces. Pereira himself is a creator and an able playmaker in the final third. His passing is precise and the Brazilian also possesses an impressive vision.
West Ham strikers Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez will certainly receive more chances up front with Pereira pulling the strings in the midfield. The Brazilian has shown that he is adaptable, during his loan spells with Spanish sides Valencia and Granada. It’s his drive and energy that make him a fruitful asset in the middle of the park.
The Hammers should certainly make the move for Pereira when the transfer window reopens in January. The prospect of playing regular football should be more than enough to convince the Brazilian. West Ham are in dire need of signings as well and must ensure they get this guy.
