Rondon In For Kanu: Strongest West Brom Playing XI To Take On Arsenal

Predicted West Bromwich Albion Lineup To Play Arsenal

West Brom striker Rondon

Tony Pulis’ West Bromwich Albion have gone into a mini-slump this month as they fell to back to back losses against Crystal Palace and then Everton in the last two rounds of the Premier League. However, they stay firm in the top half of the table, just 9 points off a place in the Europa League. They will have to find some consistency from now to the end of the season to have a shot at European football but they have a tricky test ahead of them this week when they face a resurgent Arsenal side who will come out on all cylinders. The Gunners lost to Chelsea and Liverpool in their last 3 league games picking up just a victory over Hull in the middle but they will surely have to be at their best to take something away from this trip to the Hawthorns. Pulis is expected to play his strongest side for this game against Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal.

Team News:

Matt Philips is the only player absent from the squad for this tie as Tony Pulis has all his first team players fit and ready to take on the Gunners in this game.

Formation: 4-3-3

GK – Ben Foster:

Had a forgettable outing against Everton, letting three goals in and will hope to have a better game against Arsenal this weekend.

RB – Craig Dawson:

The first choice full-back for Pulis, Dawson has been in decent form this season for his side and will be up against the likes of Iwobi and Sanchez on the night.

CB – Gareth McAuley:

McAuley has arguably one of the best defenders in the league this season and will be up against some of the best in the business in Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.

CB – Jonny Evans:

The experienced centre-back will add some mettle to the back line as he will try to frustrate the Arsenal front line in this game.

LB – Allan Nyom:

Another player who has been impressive this season, Nyom has cemented a place in the starting XI for the Baggies and will have to be at his best to stop the likes of Theo Walcott.

CDM – Jake Livermore:

Though he did not put in a great shift at the Goodison Park, Livermore has been decent at the heart of the midfield for his side and should start this game against Arsenal.

CM – Darren Fletcher:

Controlling the midfield of the side will be Darren Fletcher who should add enough mettle to the midfield partnering Livermore in front of the backline in this tie.

CM – Claudio Yacob:

Completing the 3 man midfield for the Baggies is the energetic Claudio Yacob who is sure to give the likes of Ozil and Sanchez no space or time on the ball.

RW – Nacer Chadli:

The Belgian has cemented a place in the first team at the club under Tony Pulis this season and will have a huge job on his hands in this crunch tie at home.

LW – James McClean:

Another player who failed to impress against Everton, McClean will be up against an attacking Hector Bellerin and will have a great chance to get in behind the Arsenal defence in this game.

ST – Solomon Rondon:

With Kanu not helping the Baggies cause, Pulis should bring Rondon back into the starting XI just to give the likes of Koscielny and Mustafi some trouble.

This is how they would line up:
