West Brom opinion: Albert Adomah would be a good fit at Hawthorns

According to a report from Bristol Live, West Brom have attempted to hijack Nottingham Forest’s move for Albert Adomah. The Ghanaian, 31, was released by Aston Villa at the end of last season despite playing a key role in helping Dean Smith’s side secure promotion to the Premier League.

He has been one of the most in-demand free agents on the Championship market, following his surprise release and holds an impressive Championship statistics which has seen him score 61 goals and make 62 assists in 372 appearances.

If West Brom succeeds in sabotaging Nottingham Forest’s move and sign Albert Adomah, it would represent a massive coup for the Midlands outfit.

The Baggies will hope to finally realise their promotion dream next season after failing to negotiate the playoffs during 2018/19. They were beaten in the semi-finals of the playoffs and every emphasis will now be geared towards automatic promotion when the season starts in August.

The club is under the management of former West Ham boss Slaven Bilic, who has a pretty good squad and a couple of solid additions should be enough to have them challenging for promotion.

Croatian midfielder Filip Krovinovic has already arrived at The Hawthorns from Benfica on a season-long loan and he’ll add much-needed creativity and flair to Bilic’s side.

However, the Croatian tactician must further add some attacking punch to his side having lost Jay Rodriguez to Burnley and seen top-scorer Dwight Gayle return to Newcastle following the expiry of his loan spell. With that in mind, bringing in Adomah would be a terrific move from Bilic.

Adomah, who scored four goals and produced three assists for their local rivals last season, has volumes of Championship experience under his belt having played for the likes of Bristol City, Middlesbrough and Aston Villa. He could prove to be an invaluable member of the Baggies’ dressing room as Bilic eyes promotion.

The Ghanaian can play on either side of the flanks and would add some much-needed quality to West Brom’s play in the final third.

He works tirelessly off the ball and that should make him a good fit at Bilic’s system at the Hawthorns. It must also be noted that he can be picked up for absolutely nothing.

Verdict

Adomah’s track record makes for impressive reading and he certainly boasts the pedigree to make him an appealing prospect. On a free transfer, he would represent a smart piece of business for West Brom.
