“We’re getting back to LCFC of old” – Twitter Reacts To Leicester’s 2-2 Draw With Stoke + Player Ratings

Full Time: Stoke City 2-2 Leicester City

Leicester City had to settle for merely a point against Stoke City even though they twice took the lead. However, the fans are likely to be happy since Claude Puel continued his unbeaten start as Leicester City manager, after a 2-0 win against Everton last weekend.

The Foxes took the lead through a stunning goal from Vicente Iborra but their joy was short-lived as Xherdan Shaqiri levelled the scoreline following some vulenrabilities showed by Leicester’s defence. However, it was Mahrez who scored the goal to restore the advantage, but an unstoppable header from substitute Peter Crouch sealed a point for Stoke.

Let’s take a look at how the Leicester City players fared.

Leicester City Player Ratings

Kasper Schmeichel – 7/10

Both goals were not really his doing and Schmeichel put up quite an average performance. He made a good save to keep out a Ryan Shawcross header.

Danny Simpson – 6.5/10

Simpson did not make much of an impact but he dealt well with Ramadan Sobhi. However, he did not make any other notable contributions.

Wes Morgan – 6.5/10

Much like Simpson, Morgan too did not do much and was caught out of position a couple of times. But he did make some strong challenges.

Harry Maguire – 7/10

Maguire was dragged out of position for Shaqiri’s goal but besides that, he stood firm and tried to salvage an otherwise weak defensive display from the Foxes.

Christian Fuchs – 4/10

Fuchs put up a very poor display. He made an judgement error by surging forward to mark Choupo-Moting, and that allowed Shaqiri all the space to capitalise.

Riyad Mahrez – 8/10

Mahrez was strong throughout the game and was particularly effective in the second half. He scored the second goal to give Leicester a short-lived lead.

Wilfried Ndidi – 7.5/10

Ndidi was quite impressive while defending and attacking. Also, he provided ample support for Vicente Iborra.

Vicente Iborra – 9/10

Iborra scored his first Premier League goal and it also displayed his fine finishing skills. He actually had two more chances to score from similar range but he could not connect them well.

Demarai Gray 8.5/10

Gray was on the offensive throughout the night, delighting everyone with his pace and trickery. He constantly troubled Mame Biram Diouf on the left flank and created a chance for Okazaki, which was denied by Butland.

Shinji Okazaki – 7.5/10

He was unlucky not to score but the player’s relentless work deserves all the credit. Okazaki put in a very fine-tuned, dedicated performance.

Jamie Vardy – 6/10

Leicester enjoyed majority of possession, and yet Vardy could not make an impact. He had a chance to win the game for Leicester, but his chance flew wide.

Kelechi Iheanacho – 7.5/10

Iheanacho did quite well and also created a chance for Vardy, but the Englishman couldn’t find the target.

Andy King – 7/10

King came on for Iborra after the Spaniard picked up a knock. He made a couple of important passes to maintain the fluidity.

Marc Albrighton – N/A

Albrighton was brought on for Gray really late, and he couldn’t make an impact.

With a match like that, of course, the fans reacted on Twitter. While some believe that they still have a long way to go under Claude Puel’s tutelage, others heaped praise on Iborra and Mahrez.
