Predicted Arsenal Lineup To Face Chelsea In The Carabao Cup
Arsenal lock horns with London rivals Chelsea in the second leg of the semi-final of the Carabao Cup. They held the Blues to a 0-0 draw and at home, there’s a lot to play for. Their life without Alexis Sanchez started off in stunning fashion as they sent four past Crystal Palace in the opening 22 minutes of the game.
This is surely inspiring and Wenger will be looking replicate similar tactics to pile more misery on the Blues. The battle will be a crunch one and both sides will have to defend neatly along with their attacking mindset, which will mostly be the agenda.
Arsenal will go all out for a win as a mere score draw would take Chelsea through to the final.
Team News
Danny Welbeck is most probably ruled out due to muscle injury while Aaron Ramsey (illness) and Olivier Giroud (hamstring) are both on the sidelines. Nacho Monreal, after having limped off in the previous game may not be able to make it for this one. He remains doubtful.
The new star in town, Henrikh Mkhitaryan will not be able to play here since he has already featured in this competition for Manchester United.
Probable Arsenal XI
Arsene Wenger will play his typical style of football, irrespective of the opponents. The ball will be fed earlier to the likes of Ozil and Wilshere in midfield and the duo of Bellerin and Kolasinac will provide pace and outstanding crosses. If they get out of the blocks like they did against Crystal Palace early on, then the Gunners could humiliate their rivals here.
Manager: Arsene Wenger
Formation: 3-4-3
GK: Petr Cech
Cech will return to face his old club and look to add to the couple of clean sheets he has kept against them this season.
RCB: Laurent Koscielny
Koscielny is back to his best and is almost unbreakable at times. A very strong and clever footballer.
CB: Shkodran Mustafi
Mustafi should organise the defence, get down to block the shots and clear the ball, like always.
LCB: Rob Holding
Holding should be included since Monreal is ruled out. He is disciplined and tight at the back.
RWB: Hector Bellerin
Bellerin will storm forward and try to continue to be the menace he has been against the PL champions.
CM: Jack Wilshere
Wilshere is back and looks in total control of everything he does. He needs to find the early rhythm to set up attacks and kill the opponent.
CM: Granit Xhaka
He is strong and is a key member while taking set-pieces. He needs to maintain his shape and discipline to finish off the game with conviction.
LWB: Sead Kolasinac
Sead Kolasinac will use his strength to win anything that is in the air, go forward and provide some teasing crosses.
RW: Mesut Ozil
The playmaker was on top of his game and was the king of the pitch against the Eagles. He is comfortable, creative and is a true genius in possession.
LW: Alex Iwobi
The crafty winger will run at players, provide the cutting edge. He should accompany Lacazette as another forward, as Ozil and Wilshere will drop deeper. He is a player to watch out for!
ST: Alexandre Lacazette
He is back in form and if he finds space in the box, it could be curtains. Lacazette is a stunning finisher and is brilliant in the air.
