Wenger Gets A Green Light For A £40 Bid For Liverpool’s Luis Suarez

Arsenal are reported to have given manager Arsene Wenger a green light to make a bid for Liverpool’s hitman Luis Suarez for an amount which is believed to be around £40m.

According to the dailymail, Arsenal having already seen a £30million offer rejected by the Merseyside are alleged to up their ante as far as £40 as Suarez has been labelled as their No 1 priority this summer after losing out on long term target Stevan Jovetic to Manchester City and with Higuain’s prospects still on the air.

Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has insisted that Suarez is set to remain with the Anfield club and the offer he received for the hitman was way below his valuation.

Talking to the reporters after landing in Jakarta, Rodgers said:

“We had an offer that was nowhere near what we value him at. Of course, he wants to work and play at the top level.

“But unless something drastic happens, he will be staying here. He has got three years left on his contract.

“He is a wonderful player, and still very much a Liverpool player. No matter who the player is, nobody is bigger than Liverpool Football Club.

“But Luis is a very important member of this squad and I am looking forward to working with him again this season.”

That said, if Arsenal do manage to bid for the alleged £40m, it will trigger Suarez’ release clause and according to his agent Pere Guardiola, Liverpool will be forced to listen to the offers.
