Sheffield United v Crystal Palace Report: Sheffield United Match Report

Sheffield United marked their first Premier League game back at Bramall Lane with a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace. John Lundstram was the only scorer of the game.

Backed by a passionate crowd, Chris Wilder’s men were positive from get-go and created good amount of chances. While defending, they stood up to whatever was thrown by the Palace attackers.

The hosts should have gone ahead in the first half, but David McGoldrick’s shot from close-range was well saved by keeper Vicente Guaita in the Palace goal.

They eventually took the lead in the 47th minute through Lundstram, who slammed his effort in from 10 yards out after Luke Freeman’s initial shot was saved.

The away side tried to come back into the game, but were limited to very few opportunities. Their best playr Wilfried Zaha never had a clear sniff of goal in the final third, which is testament to how well Sheffield United defended as a unit.

In overall scheme of things, the Blades created more chances and were the better side, but being less proficient in front of goal left them with protecting a single goal late on in the game. However, they defended very well and kept a deserving clean sheet.

At the end of the day, Wilder’s men fully deserved the three points and they look good to have a very good season back in the Premier League. Here’s how their fans reacted after this game:
